He played youth soccer with Rangers before making his senior debut as an 18-year old.
He served as a player-manager for Heart of Midlothian from 1986-1988.
He was born and raised in Edinburgh, Scotland.
He made his international debut on November 11, 1970, as a substitute for David Hay.
