Scott "Scotty" Hillstrand rose to fame as a deckhand on the Time Bandit, the fishing boat depicted in the Discovery reality series Deadliest Catch.
He began working in commercial fishing at the age of fifteen and by seventeen had earned his Heavy Equipment Operators License.
In addition to Deadliest Catch, he has also appeared in several episodes of the after show After the Catch.
His father, Johnathan, is the captain of the Time Bandit. He has a son named Sawyer.
After being exiled from the Time Bandit for trying to lease the ship's quota, he was recruited to the FV Cornelia Marie by Josh Harris.
