Serge Godin Net Worth

Serge Godin was born in Westmount, Canada, Canada, is Chairman and CEO, CGI Group. Serge Godin founded Canadian tech firm CGI Group in 1976 at age 26. He was president and CEO of the $10.7-billion (sales) company, which specializes in IT and business process services, until becoming chairman in 2006. The firm won a $93.7 million contract to help develop the Healthcare. gov website, making headlines for its role in the site's botched launch in October 2013. Godin has overseen more than 70 acquisitions, including the 1998 purchase of Bell Canada's telecom services subsidiary, Bell Sygma, which nearly doubled the size of the company at the time. One of nine children, at age 12 Godin started working for his father, who had just a fifth-grade education, at the family's sawmill. When the uninsured mill burned down, Godin worked full-time -- at a convenience store after school on weekdays and at a dry cleaner's on Saturdays -- to help pay the bills. After studying computer science and earning an MBA from Quebec's Université Laval, he worked for two consulting firms before using $5,000 in savings to start CGI Group.

Biography/Timeline

2002

In 2002, Salvatore Capozziello proposed the fundamental new point of view to dark energy: dark Energy is caused by a modification of gravitational theory. Based on this idea and developing it Odintsov and Shin'ichi Nojiri proposed the first fundamental unified picture for the evolution of the universe based on modified gravity. According to this the evolution of the universe changes the gravitational theory, so that modified gravity changes the evolution of the universe making it to be accelerating at the very early and very late epoch. Later, they also demonstrated that such unified inflationary-dark Energy universe may be achieved in modified Gauss-Bonnet gravity and non-local gravity. This picture became even more popular recently due to the increasing possibility that inflation is caused by modified gravity which differs from the usual General Relativity.

2011

In 2011, Odintsov was included in the list of the top 10 most well-known Scientists of Russian origin according to Forbes. In 2014, he was included in the list of The World's Most Influential Scientific Minds: 2014 according to Thomson Reuters.

2013

Odintsov has published 500 research articles with about 22.000–25.000 citations with an h-index of 73–76.
