In 1995, this Democratic Party Politician became a United States Representative from Texas and served on the House Committees on Homeland Security and the Judiciary. Previously, she had served on the Houston City Council.
After completing her bachelor's degree in political science at Yale University and her law degree at the University of Virginia, she became a Houston-based judge.
