Famous for her 1986, self-titled U.S. Gold-designated album and for its lead single "As We Lay," this rhythm & blues and Gospel vocalist is also notable for her U.S. R&B Top 10 hits "Go On Without You," "Husband," and "In Your Eyes."
Before beginning her career as a solo Artist, she served as a backup singer for Roger Troutman and the band Zapp and contributed to the popular 1985 single "Girl, Cut It Out."
In the early 2000s, she acted with David Peaston and Cuba Gooding, Sr. in a touring stage production titled Be Careful What You Pray For.
She was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio.
Her collaboration with musician Ben Tankard on a cover of Lionel Richie's "Jesus Is Love" earned her a number one position on the U.S. Gospel music chart.
