Suna Kirac was born in Istanbul, Turkey, Turkey. Suna Kirac is the youngest daughter of the founder of Koc Holding, Vehbi Koc. A bellwether of the Istanbul Stock Exchange, Koc Holding has participations in key businesses that comprise Koc Group, which operates in four main sectors: energy, automotive, durable consumer goods and finance. Other group activities include technology, food, retail, agriculture and shipbuilding. Having become ill in 2000 with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), also known as Lou Gherig's disease, Suna Kirac can only communicate with her eyes. With her husband she founded the Pera Museum, which exhibits historic weight and measures, tiles, ceramics and orientalist paintings. Her brother Rahmi Koc and sister Semahat Arsel are also billionaires.
