Former business journalist, Svein Stole, is the owner of Pareto Group, a financial services conglomerate that provides financing, research and asset-management services to such clients as foundations, pension funds and high-net-worth individuals. Through Pareto's shipping arm, it also deals in tankers, dry bulk shipping and drilling rigs. Via Pareto Group, Stole owns majority stakes in 11 of the group's subsidiaries and a 15% stake in publicly traded Pareto Bank ASA. Stole, who has degrees in both law and economics, reportedly bought his first bond in high school, and covered high-net-worth individuals for Norwegian business publication Kapital before taking a job as an analyst at an investment bank in 1987.
