Former bull rider who won the PRCA World Championship three times and the PBR World Championship once. He later became the ambassador of the Championship Bull Riding organization.
He became the high school all-around bull-riding champion of New Mexico in 1980.
He was inducted into the Texas Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame in 2010.
He married Tracy Stepp in 1986 and has two sons.
His son, Robert Lane Hedeman, is named after the late bull rider Lane Frost.
