Known for Crazy Mary and Century Plant. She drew her creative inspiration from nature, the supernatural, and everyday objects.
She taught herself how to play the guitar when she was a teenager.
She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1993, and to help her pay for medical expenses, a benefit project, featuring artists such as Pearl Jam, was created. The project ultimately led to the creation of the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund, which assisted professional Musicians lacking Health care.
She married Marc Olson in 1993, but the couple divorced in 2006.
Her fellow artists lined up to participate in the benefit project Sweet Relief: A Benefit for Victoria Williams, including Lou Reed and Lucinda Williams.
