Right wing who was selected 28th overall in the 2008 NHL Draft by the Phoenix Coyotes. He spent the 2008-09 season with the Coyotes. He then played for the Russian team SKA Saint Petersburg for four years before signing with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2015.
He was born in Riga, Russia, but raised in Los Gatos, California and Lexington, Kentucky.
He won a gold medal with the Russian Team at the 2014 World Championships.
His father Vasily was the goaltender coach for the Kentucky Thoroughblades, the AHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks.
He played alongside Shane Doan during his lone season in Phoenix.
