Responsible for designing one of the first Modernist pieces of architecture in Denmark, the Daells Varehus department store. He also designed table lamps that were extremely popular in the 1930s.
He attended the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, from which he graduated in 1921. He founded his firm, Vilhelm Lauritzen Arkitekter, in 1928.
He designed the first Copenhagen Airport after winning a contest.
He was born in the town of Slagelse; he received the C. F. Hansen Medal in 1954.
He was a devout advocate of the Modernist aesthetic as embodied in the structures of Frank Lloyd Wright.
