He graduated from Gagarin Air Force Academy in 1976.
He flew one mission, Soyuz 28, as part of the Interkosmos program. He was awarded Hero of the Soviet Union in 1978.
He married and had two children.
He attended the air force academy named after Yuri Gagarin.
