Martial artist and physician, he is best known for being the protagonist of numerous martial arts films and television series. He was portrayed in films such as Rise of the Legend, Drunken Master II, and Around the World in 80 Days. The Wong Fei-hung Lion Dance Martial Arts Museum was built in his hometown in 1996.
He is from Foshan, China.
He was considered an expert in the Hung Ga style of Chinese martial arts. He also was a physician who practiced and taught acupuncture and other forms of traditional Chinese medicine.
