Eighth emperor of the Qing dynasty and seventh emperor of the Qing dynasty who ruled over China proper from 1850 to 1861. His born name was Yizhu, and he took the throne when he was only nineteen years old. He was the last Chinese emperor to have rule with authoritarian control, and he faced internal turbulence under his reign including the Taiping Rebellion, the Nian Rebellion, and Second Opium War.
His reign title of Xianfeng means "Universal Prosperity," however, he inherited a troubled dynasty with the Taiping Rebellion beginning the year he took the throne.
