Human rights Activist who is known for her live blogging of her husband's surreptitious disappearance in 2006. In 2007, she and her husband made a documentary, Prisoners of Freedom City, chronicling their time under house arrest.
In August 2006, she was put under house arrest and constant surveillance by the Chinese police force. This lasted for 7 months, until March 2007.
In 2007, she was selected for TIME Magazine's 100 People Who Shape Our World list as a hero and pioneer. In 2008, she and her baby daughter were forced out of China.
Her husband, Hu Jia, was an AIDS and environmental Activist in China.
She appeared alongside Amr Khaled as a Hero & Pioneer in TIME Magazine's 100 People Who Shape Our World in 2007.
