Accomplished bass Guitarist who played on many albums, including Pet Sounds (the Beach Boys' eleventh recording). She also recorded tracks with Simon & Garfunkel, Sonny & Cher, and numerous other Musicians.
She began working as a guitar Teacher when she was still in her teens and later began her musical career as a Los Angeles-based jazz and bebop Guitarist.
She was frequently hired for session projects by music producers Brian Wilson (of the Beach Boys) and Phil Spector.
She grew up in Washington state as the daughter of Musicians Dot and Clyde Smith.
She played on Ritchie Valens' popular track "La Bamba."
