Liberian Politician who was the 22nd President of Liberia, serving from 1997 until his resignation in 2003. He was sentenced to 50 years imprisonment in 2012 for committing crimes against humanity during the Sierra Leone Civil War and the Second Liberian Civil War.
He studied at Bentley College in Waltham, Massachusetts and graduated in 1977.
He escaped from a maximum security prison in Boston in 1985 after being apprehended on a warrant for extradition to face charges of embezzling $1 million of government funds.
He married Jewel Howard and they had a son together.
