Best known as the adopted son of famous comedians George Burns and Gracie Allen, he appeared during the 1950s in both The Burns & Allen Show and The George Burns Show. He also briefly starred in NBC's early 1960s series, Happy.
A native of Evanston, Illinois, he was adopted by Burns and Allen when he was just two months old. His slightly older sister, Sandra Jean, was also adopted.
He had a cameo role in an episode of the situation comedy Bachelor Father.
After his marriage to Peggy Lyon ended in divorce in 1972, he married Janice Powell Burns, who remained his wife until his death in 2007. He was the father of three sons.
He appeared with actor-turned-television Writer and Producer Burt Metcalfe in NBC's Happy.
