On August 18, 2023, Wheeler was arrested in Orange County, Florida, and charged with one count of aggravated assault with a firearm, a third-degree felony, after turning himself in when an arrest warrant was issued following an alleged road rage incident. He was released from custody shortly thereafter when he posted $2,500 bail.
